Back in 2000, legendary local diver Brian Schmidt set about creating the ultimate dive boat to the Aldermen Islands.

The result was 'Tairua Dive', an 8.3m pontoon boat built by southern New Zealand boat builders Stabicraft.  Stabicraft's are recognised around New Zealand as on of the best, most stable trailerable dive boats out there! When Brian split the charter business from his dive shop and sold both, we saw a great opportunity to purchase the perfect dive boat!

The red 'Stabi' has a big open back deck that gives us plenty of room to gear up between dives there is also enough seting to sit 8 comfortably.   The pontoons of the stabi provide the ultimate in stability and safety at rest with enormous positive bouyancy.

We have recently repowered with two new 2007 115 Optimax Mercury outboards, and have a 350 litre in floor fuel tank as well as having a fully auto electric capstan .

Both Steve and Brenda hold current NZ Maritime NZ skippers certificates and the boat is currently in safe ship management, surveyed for 12 passengers.

We have plenty of dry storage lockers and tank racks.

Also on board are plenty of conveniences with with gas cooker/stove, sink and porta-loo with holding tank. The boat is fully kitted with all required safety equipment. eg life jackets, flares, fire extinghers,EPIRB, fire buckets, bilge pump, etc. We use a combined fish finder/chart plotter, a Hummingbird 595 c GPS and also have a VHF radio.
